RAS stands for Rent-A-Scientist
Founded in 1995 by three chemists as Rent A Scientist (RAS AG), the company started by giving businesses direct access to scientific expertise on demand. Teams worked on defined technical challenges, ran experiments, and delivered results without the need for in-house R&D.
Over time, RAS expanded its work. It managed innovation networks, connected companies with research partners, supported grant applications, and developed advanced materials. These activities generated a steady flow of intellectual property, with around 10 patent filings each year.
In 2021, RAS joined the HeiQ Group and became HeiQ RAS. It now acts as HeiQ’s innovation hub in Germany, where teams develop materials, transfer technologies into production, and prepare new solutions for market launch across the group.
